THE NATO TRUST FUND PROGRAMME FOR BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA Implemented by
the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
SUMMARY
The NATO Trust Fund was set up by NATO Member
States and other donors to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina with the
reintegration of personnel made redundant through the Defence Reform
process.The reintegration assistance
Programme under the NATO Trust Fund is voluntary and addresses in
priority the military professionals, civil servants or civilian
employees discharged in 2006/7 who shall not be retired or whose
contract with the Armed Forces do not come to an end at the time of
discharge.
The Programme also assists those made
redundant in 2004 who were not at the time of their discharge
entitled to retirement or at the end of their contract with the
Armed Forces on the day of discharge, based on an assessment of
their personal situation.
To benefit from the NATO Trust Fund
Programme, eligible persons register into the Programme on a
voluntary basis. Those who are eligible for assistance are called
for a private interview with the IOM staff in one of the field
offices closer to their residence. This interview helps assess the
individual’s situation, the best options for his or her economic
reinsertion, and the assistance under the NATO Trust Fund.
The reintegration
assistance can be one of the following:
-
Training,
re-training, qualification to gain professional and marketable
skills
-
Equipment for
agricultural pursuits
-
Tools or equipment
for self-employment
-
Employment:
o Training in job search: how to write a CV, a motivation letter,
job interview techniques
o Employment with equipment: professional tools will be given
to you if an employer is interested in hiring you
o Direct employment through job offers received from public
and private companies depending on market needs and
skills/qualifications
The level of assistance provided under the
NATO Trust Fund Programme is not always sufficient to purchase the
required tool, equipment, livestock or other. Thus eligible persons
are encouraged to keep part of their severance pay to complement the
assistance provided under the NATO Trust Fund Programme in order to
increase their chances of successful economic opportunities.
Please note that the
registration is now CLOSED.
